Certification

Coaching Certification 

Please be advised that all coaching certifications must be completed and forwarded to the HNS office to be entered by December 31st. Any certifications received after December 31st will not be processed until the following hockey season. There will be NO exceptions on this.

Any coach not having his / her full certifications up to date and into the HNS office, will be removed from their position as of January 1st.

If you are unsure of your coaching certification HNS would suggest you find out immediately by contacting your local Minor Hockey Association or by logging in to the new Hockey Canada Elearning site with your coaching card number.

Any person having contact with a minor must have the following;

Speak Out (4 hour course)

Criminal Records Check (CRC)

Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR)

IP Instructors and Novice Coaches must have the following

Speak Out (4 hour course)

Criminal Records Check (CRC)

Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR)

HCSP – Safety Program (one member of the team must have this course and be present at the game / practice)

Coaching Certification Course of Initiation Program (IP)

Recreational team coaches (Head and Asst. coaches) / bench staff must have the following;

Speak Out (4 hour course)

Criminal Records Check (CRC)

Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR)

HCSP – Safety Program (one member of the team must have this course and be present at the game / practice)

Coaching Certification Course Recommended Minimum of NCCP Development 1

Competitive team coaches (Head and Asst. coaches) / bench staff must have the following;

Speak Out (4 hour course)

Criminal Records Check (CRC)

Child Abuse Registry Check (CAR)

HCSP – Safety Program (only one bench staff needs this at the "B" level. Levels above "B" all Bench staff require this. Coaching Certification Course Minimum of NCCP Development 1.

Please note that should you have an old coaching certification (Coach level, Intermediate, Advanced 1 etc) there is a grandfather clause stated on the development website under certification.
